Do I really have to go out of my way to invite everyone to a baby shower via snail mail and waste 50cents per stamp plus the paper for an invite or can I do it via Facebook and the ones not on invite them individually or is it better etiquette to invite them all snail mail way

I think FB is fine and a text invitation is just as personal for those who aren’t on FB. I would only mail to older family members who like having keepsakes.

I'm doing fb for the most part some ppl I know don't have fb so I'm getting about 20 paper invites to send to those ppl.

i think it depends on your audience. if you’re inviting a lot of old people, i would definitely go the paper invite route. if it’s mostly younger people, i would at least do an “e-vite”. it’s a little nicer than a facebook invite. but my advice for thank you notes is ALWAYS do handwritten ones.
