anyone else have high blood pressure?

first pregnancy and I have no history of it? any advice or experience with it? I'm 18 weeks and feeling like the world is over.

Mine was high at my first appointment a couple days ago, but they always take my BP first thing, when my anxiety about my appointment is through the roof. At future appointments, I'm gonna ask that they take my BP at the end of the appointment instead.

My OB put me on Procardia XL once a day at my second appointment approximately around 8 weeks I believe. My BP was in the 130's/90's range. Last appointment on the 11th, it was better, however I recently went to urgent care for flu/sinusitis symptoms( I'm a CNA and pneumonia has hit every resident at my facility in the last month ) and my BP was ridiculous. 147/87 or so. 🤦🏻‍♀️ They said it could've been just because I've been sick. 😞

I’ve also never had a problem with blood pressure before but I’m 18 weeks today and my blood pressure has been high my whole pregnancy so far. But it hasn’t caused any complications so far and I’m trying to eat less sodium and fried foods and I feel a lot better!

I've had high bp since becoming pregnant (around the 140's) and was put on medication at around 16 weeks, it has been a little stressful because the Dr tells me that the major risk for the baby is that the placenta ages prematurely and baby has to be born, so we've taken it one day at a time, he also monitors me closely to make sure high bp doesn't turn into preeclampsia, luckily we've made it safely to 31 weeks, keeping my eating as clean as possible, not gaining a lot a weight, drinking lots of water, baby is doing great, growing on schedule and very active, so know that you can still have a safe pregnancy and baby will be fine.

I'm a first time mom too. I'm at 33 weeks tomorrow and was just diagnosed with gestational hypertension. I went into the hospital for a non-stress test and got to stay two nights to get my blood pressure down! It was pretty scary but luckily all went well. I came home yesterday & will have to be more closely monitored with blood tests, urine tests and continue with non-stress tests twice a week. Plus I'm now on disability leave, have to take blood pressure meds and get to deliver my baby at 37 weeks instead of waiting til 39 (because I also have gestational diabetes). Lucky me, huh? Really it is lucky-because had it not gone down in the hospital I would've had to have her last night and she would be in the NICU for a month. 
Blood pressure issues are some serious stuff. Just watch your stress levels and so long as your doc is a good one, you should be fine. They'll check on you when needed and make sure it doesn't get or stay higher. Good luck!

Mine was up also because they’d take it first right when I got to appt after rushing from work to get there etc. then they’d have me rest a bit and then it would be ok. Then one day it was high so they sent me to labor and delivery. They took my bp and said it was high too but then they measured my arm and said that they needed a different size cuff! Ever since then week 35-38 now they take it with the right size cuff and I’m normal. But to be safe they have me doing fetal monitoring twice a week. I’m 5’2” 36 years old and at 38 weeks I weigh 256. Only gained about 13 pounds now. Most (7 pounds) in last few weeks.

This is my fourth pregnancy and I never had it before until this pregnancy. The doctor has me on two baby aspirins a day until week 36 unless something happens between now and then. Then they will have to put me on medication.  I also have to check my blood pressure multiple times a day at home. I'm actually so freaked out and nervous that something bad is going to happen during labor and delivery because of my high blood pressure and my cardiologist was not very reassuring she just said it's scary isn't it!???

Mine was perfect until 16 weeks then it drastically shot up. I am on bp meds since then and it is under control. I am starting my bi weekly appts now and I have a growth scan at 32 weeks. They have me on 500 mg methyldopa 2x a day and I take a baby aspirin once a day.

Mine is up sometimes when I go. I'm 15 weeks. Don't worry. Just watch your sodium intake, drink water, get some exercise. My obgyn told me she may have to deliver my baby before due date depending on it. No worries.
