Pumping, storing breast milk, bottle feeding

leslie • 🧿

Started pumping recently. Producing more milk than baby takes and breast became very engorged :( but LO isn’t taking bottles very well. What are the best bottle for feeding a 1wo? How did you get your newborn to take a bottle??

Also, I pumped a full bottle only to realize LO only takes 2-3oz so I’m pretty much wasting my milk :/ how do you mamas store your breast milk??

We have used the dr. Browns bottles sine my son was a week old & have no issues with breastfeeding. He likes the mam bottles as well. Just keep in mind, every baby is different. As far as storing milk, I use milk storage bags (the parents choice ones from Walmart are ones that I haven't had any issues w/.) I pump in bottles & then pour into bags & label & freeze them. I never froze more than 3 ounces in one bag for the first few months because we didn't want to waste any.

I agree with the other poster said but I'll add if you're going to freeze and store look up lipase in breast milk. I had no idea and had to throw away I don't know how many bags.

you don't have to throw it away. you can use vanilla extract to hide the yucky taste

Get breastmilk freezer bags! At one week old you dont want to bottle feed anyways since it could cause nipple confusion. You can buy the bags at walmart or target in the Baby section. He is still little so they don’t need very much but a freezer stash is awesome to have on hand
