Newborn in restaurant?

I’m due late June and we have a family trip (8 adults and 5 children/babies total) at the end of July. I’m not necessarily worried about traveling cause it’ll only be a four hour car ride for hubby, me, and baby. However I just realized we won’t have th option of sitting at a booth with baby because of our group size. So what would you do? I don’t necessarily want to wear baby while trying to eat and I don’t want baby just out in the open. So that leaves me with keeping baby in the carseat( we have a nuna pipa so we have a extra barrier from germs with the dream drape). Do you put the car seat on the floor? A chair? A high Chair??

A lot of restaurants have options for babies in car seats. I’ve seen slings that are made to hold the car seat. Otherwise, I’d probably put the car seat on a chair, i wouldn’t want the baby on the floor incase someone tripped or dropped  something.

the restaurant I work in has the wooden high chairs and if you flip them upside down most carseat fit perfect in them. alot of people don't know this but it is wsy better then baby being on the floor or a chair. the wooden pieces keep the car seat in place and it's much safer! also alot of restaurants use these highchairs so hopefully they do where u are eating as well.

We have the Pipa as well and we always put it on an extra chair next to us with the Dream drape. Once when we were at a pizza place we actually put his car seat on the table and rocked him in the car seat. Worked great!

They have slings for car seats. We either kept our daughter in her car seat and put her in a sling OR we'd click her car seat into the stroller and park the stroller at the end of the table (although some restaurants do not allow this. So always ask first).

I would put the car seat on a chair. My son would never let me keep him in a car seat, as soon as that thing stopped moving he wanted to be out haha. Do you have a pram? (I can’t remember what you call it in the states). I’d always vote that over a car seat as it’s safer for baby to be flat on their back 😊

If you have a detachable carrycot that could go on a seat next to you and like the previous poster said would be flat so safe? And could easily pick him up when needed or maybe hold him- but that could be difficult when trying to eat!!

just call the restaurant ahead of time and see if they have a sling.

I usually keep her in her car seat which she didn't like so I would lay her with. blankets in the stroller when she got big enough. it take turns with my so eating.
