Co sleeping

My little guy is 5 months old and sleeps beside me in my bed because he wakes up lots with his acid reflux and spitting up so it’s easier and he sleeps better beside me. He sleeps on his side lots to help with the reflux. Recently my mom and sister have been on my case to get him to sleep in his crib because they say I’m spoiling him and going to have issues when he is older. What do you guys think I should do? Any similar experiences ?
