I need some advice!

So recently I've been talking with this great guy, we have so much in common! We both love art and books, love the same nerdy movies and video games, thing is he's 48 and I'll be turning 21 in feb. He asked me to go to the movies and I said yes, because I don't care about his age at all, honestly I didn't ask his age til sometime after. But my friend's are cracking jokes about him breaking a hip and things like that. I haven't told my family I have a date even though I still live with my parents. I'm thinking about cancelling the date because of all the reactions I've been recieving. I've never dated an older man and have only had 2 bfs anyways. What should I do?

*Update* So we ended up not being able to go on our date because of all the things to happen in my life my period started!

i mean body racking pain, so I was all like nope! I gotta date with mother nature so I'm definitely staying home.

He was very understanding about that of course and postponed our date. He even went and bought me chocolate.

Best part is he asked me to be his girlfriend, I put much thought into it and decided to say yes. But I was upfront about my parents not going to accept my decision as well. So far so good!
