I'm 24 weeks now and my dr said at 28 weeks I get a growth scan. My 20 week scan was normal. Is this normal practice or should I worry?

I wish I got growth scans. My last one was at 20 weeks and she said I’ll only get another one if it’s medically necessary. I’ve heard other people have gotten them though. Just ask your doctor if there’s a concern but it sounds normal.

I was only supposed to have two scans. Dating and anatomy. But my blood pressure spiked a 3rd time at my glucose test appointment. I was nervous about the blood draw... No signs of preeclampsia or anything. Just when I get really nervous it likes to spike a little. So she said because of that she'd like to do a growth scan. Which I'm not about to fight. You wanna see baby girl again, I'm always down for that! So at 34 weeks we'll get to see her again.

My doctors are doing extra growth scan because we are being monitored for Zika. So I will have my anatomy and growth scan at 20 weeks, so next Monday. Then one at 28 and one at 34 to make sure everything looks good.

I had to get a growth scan every 2 weeks (They can only ACCURATELY give you growth scans every 2 weeks.) with my baby because she was tiny (always 4 weeks below the age she should be in gestational size) so unless there’s something medically wrong with your growing bub you shouldn’t need to get anymore growth scans then the recommended (every 4 weeks) but when you’re in your third trimester you get them every 2 week until you pop.
 
But if your baby is growing normally (unlike mine) then you shouldn’t need to go for anymore than monthly scans unless is your own choice, but most doctors refuse to because there’s no need for it.
