Tattoos and breastfeeding?

I'm looking to get a tattoo shortly after giving birth. I had an appointment booked and found out I was pregnant that day. 🤷 😂 Question is - is it safe to get a tattoo while breastfeeding? What are the risks? Precautions I should be taking? Or do I just wait? 😊 Thanks in advance!

Ask the tattooist, there are definitely risks, blood poisoning being one. I wouldn't risk it personally, a good tattooist wouldn't tattoo you during pregnancy or breast feeding

If you go to a good reputable tattoo shop I don’t see a issue with it at all. The ink is not going to transfer into your breastmilk so the only concern is risk of infection or catching hepatitis. As long as you keep it clean and take care of the fresh tattoo I think it’s completely safe 😌

I’ve looked into this since I’d like to get one too. It’s not safe while pregnant but fine while breastfeeding.

I believe it is not recommended to get tattoos while nursing. I think your supposed to wait. I’m no expert though. You can always call the tattoo shop and ask them about it.
