Cramping

So I’m experiencing some major cramping and back pain, my period isn’t due for another 5 days. With that being said I NEVER have cramps when I have my period. I have had cramps one time and it was when I was much younger other than that the only symptoms I have before my period is a headache. Could I be pregnant, should I take a test? I have looked online and it says cramping can be a early sign. I’m confused just because my period isn’t due for about a week.
