Baby independence

Do/did you let your little one that's under the age of one have some solo time playing or relaxing? Or do/did you have constant interaction while they are/were awake? Have you noticed a difference in behavior based on this decision? Having a debate with a friend and interested in how you all feel about it.

UPDATE: can't wait to show her your responses! I completely agree with you all about independence. My friend disagreed and said the constant interaction is important for baby's development and I agree to a certain extent, but I do feel it's very important that my little one discovers some things on her own.
