A second look

Destiny • Lennon’s mommy.

So I wasn’t going to go out of my way to type this all up, but I need it off my chest and want to warn other first time or even fifth time moms...

Friday I had my normal weekly baby appointment like usual which ended in me being sent up to labor and delivery for monitoring, due to hard time finding heart beat and movement. After an hour or so I was told everything was fine and I could carry on with my day. On Saturday night I was driving back to my mothers house from seeing my friends while I was in town. (She lives in De Pere WI and I live in Shawano WI) as I was driving I got very sharp pains in my whole stomach, hips, and lower back. I thought maybe I just needed to hurry up and go #2... got to my moms and nothing, so I tried to get some sleep... tossed and turned for a good portion of the night in just awful pain... I woke up to having to go #2 extremely bad. & went about six more times after that within three hours... The back and hip pain were still extremely consistent and light period type cramps... So I called my hospital and told them what was happening, in which they suggested I come in... So I did. They hooked me up to monitors and after a half hour they said I was fine but they want to continue to watch for a little longer. So two hours go by and i’m still there and now I have to pee... I go, and there’s some blood on my toilet paper. I page a nurse in and she takes a look at it and says she’ll let the DR know... Hour and a half goes by, no dr, no nurse, no one comes in to check on me or explain much. So my friend goes out and gets a nurse because they didn’t give me a call button. The dr comes in says everything’s fine and I probably just have a stomach flu..... a damn stomach flu... sure okay... I get up, put my clothes on and leave and go to the next hospital... They took a urine sample, felt my belly, took my temperature, and finally figured out I had a UTI... After this I said SCREW my regular dr and hospital I was switching... Today I met with my new midwife and I am extremely happy to say that she has given me so much information, listened to all of my concerns, and even planned an ultrasound because i’m 37 weeks measuring at 40... And planned an induction date... I’m almost happy I was mistreated so it made me switch to someone caring, informative and extremely nice... Don’t settle for convince!! Don’t blindly follow a doctor. Do your research and speak up.
