Is it rude to ask no children on baby shower invitations?

My mom and cousin is planning a baby shower for me but I’d love to have a kids free environment because I really want to enjoy my party without having kids ruin the calm and relaxed feel. Kind of like a last party before kids for me. But I don’t know if it’s rude or not.

Nah, not rude. You can request to have a childfree event at any time. Just always make sure that you keep in mind that some people might not come because they can’t find arrangements for their children.

It’s your party I just find it odd. Your there to celebrate a new baby but you think allowing “Kids” will ruin it? If anything they handful of kids at mine were a welcome distraction and an ice breaker for those guests that didn’t know each other.

what about finding someone to watch the kids in attendance in another room or area of the house. set them up with a project to do or something. not sure if you were going to ask if there is a nice way to say it.

I think it’s always considered rude to put it ON the invites for any event.  
If you address it to just Mom or dad in the house, they should get that no kids are allowed.

I'm all for  night time events for  no children,  But i would  100% use my child  as my excuse not  to go.  Heres your gift  but don't  subject me to a bunch of whiney women getting tipsy on mimosas.

It’s not rude to ask for no kids nor is it rude to not want them there, I’m sure plenty of the mothers of young children would be glad of a child free social event, however don’t get offended if some people can’t make, either down to lack of childcare, not being able to afford a sitter or even just not wanting to be away from their children, particularly if there are any with young babies who need to nurse.
Ultimately you need to decide whether it’s more important to you to have it child free but maybe missing some people you care about or having it with children and you get the people you care about there.

I don’t think it’s rude and I get why you would want a party with just adults before having a baby. That said, if you’re going to have it be child free you need to be understanding that some people won’t come. I’d also think it was kind of funny to be invited to something revolving around having a kid while being told “no kids”.
