why are some people so sensitive?

in all honesty, why are some people so sensitive and others not so much? take my MIL for example, if someone makes a comment that could be taken hurtfully she spends the entire week crying and hiding. I know another person who if you suggest there might be a better way to do things other than their way, they get so upset. And before anyone ask it's not just me upsetting them. And those two are not the only ones I know. It's several people. I just don't get it.

Some people just aren’t as strong as other people. 🤷‍♀️ Sometimes it’s for a good reason or it’s all they know. I think that it’s better to try to be empathetic than to judge. Be proud of yourself knowing you handle things well.

some people just brought up differ,  have differ pasts then other, just hyper sensitive, mental, emotional issues etc  it could be alot of things in some situations can be a good thing an in others not such a good thing I know if had differ times in my life where I was like that I never stuck up for myself and was in alot of ways bullied cuz of it my dad would always tell me No god damn it people treat you the way they do cuz u allow it I never ever ever understood that till I was about 30 and I still have moments of people smacking me in the face with my very own kindness I had MIL who would talk shit about u the sec u walked out the room but couldn't handle being spoke of herself she lock herself in her room I think there's I'm some cases alot of factors of why so kinda hard to say at least from me it's to much for me to even understand

Sometimes I think people are more sensitive bc they have some unresolved something or other they haven’t fully dealt with either at all or in a healthy way, so they are just already that much on the verge of breaking down. Or if it’s someone who maybe has severe anxiety (diagnosed) their threshold is really low for stuff. When I remind myself that these types of things could be going on it helps me not be annoyed or judge their response.
