Yeast infection?

So I was first concerned when I had extreme pain when my boyfriend and I tried to have sex (I say tried because I made him stop because it hurt so bad) and then about 2-3 days later I started getting an intense itching, swelling, and it's very red. I don't have any weird discharge but I have the other symptoms of a yeast infection but I don't want to self-diagnose, so I would love another opinion. What would be ways to get rid of it if it is a yeast infection?
