3:30 am on January 25th, 2018, I got woken up to pains 3 minutes apart. They only got worse so at 5:45 I woke my husband and said “it’s baby time”. We got ready and came to the hospital where I got hooked up to the heart rate monitor and found out that I was dilated to 3. Well a contraction hit and I could hear the baby’s heartbeat drop. It did that twice and the doctor said I was staying until the baby was born and if his heart dropped again then I’d need an emergency c-section. Well they hooked me up to an iv and oxygen to try to help the baby’s heart rate. It worked. About 8:45-9 am rolls around and I start begging for the epidural. At 10:15 the anesthesiologist finally comes into my room to give me relief. He starts and stabs me in the back with the needle 4 times total. I was crying by the end because you know, a big needle going in your spine more than once, hurts pretty bad. Then as He finally puts it in right, I just feel a pop with a contraction. My water broke. It was also brown in color since my son was swimming in meconium without anyone’s knowledge. Well at 10:40am, my body made the decision to push for me even though the epidural hadn’t even taken affect. My mother was telling me to not push since the doctor was getting his cover and mask on but my body and the baby had other plans. 2 pushes later, he was out. I couldn’t control the pushes at all since it hurt so bad. I gave birth to my 6 lb 2 oz baby boy at 38 weeks exactly! Also everyone in the hospital is obsessed with his hair and I didn’t have that much heartburn during pregnancy
