Any single moms?

Question

Any single moms out there who met the love of their life after a rough past relationship.... I would like to know your story. I’m a newly single mom who just got out of an abusive relationship just curious to know how you did after you broke things off with your ex.

I remained single (had some fwb- nothing serious and no one met my son) for about 4 years after my abusive/toxic relationship of 4 years. My son was 3 when I finally left. 
Long story short, I went to college, worked and focused on my son and I. 
I ran into an old buddy and we instantly clicked in 2011.
We're married now, 7 years together with 3 kids 😊 My husband accepts my son as his own and has taken on the full role of Daddy. His adoption will be finalized this year!

I am.... I had my son with a man, he was abusive, wanted an abortion, and lied saying I gave him STD's (while he was cheating), saying I might as well have an abortion because the STD's would screw the baby up 😑. I went through with the pregnancy and have a wonderful 10 year old boy now. He hit me while pregnant, showed up to my friends barracks with a gun, pulled me by the hair, slapped me across the face, choked me unconscious. It took me deploying and getting out of the situation to see how bad and dangerous it was. My now husband, was a great friend back then, and helped me with anything and everything. He didn't want to see me abused anymore, as the father of my son was taking all of my money as well. I got out, he slowly disappeared out of our lives, and my husband has raised my son since 7 months old. The one thing I regret, is not calling the cops, and accepting and protecting the abuser (which I thought was doing something good for my son). Now I've been paying attorney fees for 3 years, because now he wants to legitimate my son and get visitation. 😑 I was an idiot...
