Husband not allowed in for ultrasound?!

Just had my first ultrasound today at 10w3d and everything looked great! Weird part is they said no family was allowed with me because I'm less than 14 weeks. Is that typical?! I questioned my husband not being able to go back, so they checked with the technician, who did outside then transvaginal, then he went and got my husband and did it from the outside again. For the first part he did all the measurements and all that, so maybe they just don't want any distractions? Just curious if anyone else experienced this! And here's the little nugget! 💕

That's weird. I had a transvaginal ultrasound and my husband was there.
You should ask your doctor specifically why they have this policy in place.

At my doctor they always bring me back by myself first for part of the appointment—it’s protocol in case someone is in an abusive/dangerous situation to give them a chance to ask for help. It’s annoying for us, but I appreciate that they do it as a matter of course in case someone needs that time.

I find this odd. I have never been told I can’t have someone in the room with me. I am pregnant with my third child now and has my first ultrasound at 7 weeks; my mom was there for that one even!

My first scan at 7 weeks 4 days no one was allowed and it was a long scan basically the technician said they give the report back to the doctor.  The second scan she said he was allowed we just had it at 9 weeks 4 days. He was allowed to come in for the second part which was transvaginal. I can see why he kept asking her questions lol but we saw my doc after. I have another scan on 1/31 and assuming my husband can come in for that one as well. I think it depends on the clinic and their policy and timing I guess. Also I’m at a fertility clinic and they keep me up to 12 weeks

I’ve never heard of that happening, at most hospital ultrasounds 2 people are allowed to accompany you. At private it’s up to 5! I understand children etc but not the babies father x

You should be allowed to have an “escort” with you-especially if you have to undress in any form.  I would contact superiors and mention your concern.  I understand them trying to ask if you are abused, etc-but if you WANT to have someone present - that is your right.

My husband has been back with me for everything. Even once for blood work. No one has ever mentioned anything to us!

With all of my pregnancies and ultrasounds i’ve had to go in alone for the first part and then at the end my husband gets to come in and see for a quick second.  They are taking measurements and images, they need to focus. I know it’s exciting for us but they still have a job to do and I would rather they do it well.
