im 21 and have decided to please my mom by getting on birth control. im just not quite sure which one to get/use. please give me any feed back you can about either the pill or the shot... positives and negatives.

I've never taken any BC that didn't give me terrible side effects. It was either weight gain and acne or horrible mood swings/anxiety/depression or hair loss... Ugh, I'm currently looking into the only hormone free BC option, the Copper IUD. It is hormone free, obviously, so the terrible side effects that I've had with hormonal BC shouldn't happen at all. Plus you don't have to worry about taking a pill every single day and it's just as effective at preventing pregnancy as getting your tubes tied yet, it's easily reversible. Since it's hormone free, when you decide you want to try to have children, it doesn't affect your fertility negatively like hormonal BC does. Oh, and it lasts up to 12 years! Like, hell yes, sign me up!

I’ve always been on the pill. Negatives: having to remember to take it. I set an alarm for the same time each day so I don’t forget. Positives: You know when your period is going to happen so you can be prepared! The first brand I took I had bad mood swings, but the brand I’m currently on works perfect for me.
