Does it matter if you have a date to prom?

Should I go to prom if I don’t have a date? I feel like everyone is going to have a date because people make such a big deal out of that. Should I try to get a date to prom or just not worry about it at all?

honestly? speaking from experience (my junior prom I went with friends and senior ball I went with my then "bf") i had more fun the first time with no date, my picture was so much more fun and I had a great time my second time was horrible the dude left me multiple times during the night, almost ditched me to go to an after party that I wasn't invited to and it wasn't even his prom! the guy was an ass and honestly if you aren't with someone amazing who you know your gonna stay with just go with friends it's way more fun and the picture won't be A reminder of some dude who was an ass.

i’m in the same boat, everyone in my friend group is gonna have a date and im trying to decide if going as the 11th wheel would be worse than not going at all lol
