What does the phrase ‘patriotic duty’ mean to you?

Va

What type of actions do you feel are doing your ‘patriotic duty’ as a citizen of the country you live in?

I ask because a coworker today described watching the presidential address as something he didn’t want to do, but figured it was his ‘patriotic duty’. I generally agree that it is a responsibility to be informed (for better or worse) on what is going on politically and what the president says.

For me, I think of things like voting, serving on jury duty, honoring the flag, paying taxes, obeying the law, .. just to name a few.

What actions do you personally think fall under someone doing their ‘patriotic duty’, and do you participate in those things or do you think the phrase is not meant for you?

I’m not sure there are ‘wrong’ answers since this is opinion based (so maybe not very controversial) so I will move this if wanted.
