ovulation?

How do you know when your ovulating? without taking a test? a little bit after my period ends I always have white discharge in my undies. is this cm? & is this also when I'm ovulating? I always avoid sex during this time cus I feel gross but don't want to be avoiding sex if this is when I'm ovulating.
