Moving to Europe from the States.. advice?

So, in the upcoming years I'm looking to move from the States to the UK, or Western Europe. Having only recently made a decision, I'm a bit confused on where to start and what to research. For example, how exactly do I decide on which country? While Visa information is plentiful, the rest of it is shrouded in mystery and mind-boggling confusion. Has anyone else made such a move? Know any good links to articles that help the process? I'll gladly take any advice I can get!

I moved to Iceland from the US and then to Norway. I’m probably never moving back at this rate. 
You’re generally going to need a job that will sponsor a visa, which can be tricky in Western Europe because you’re competing with the rest of Schengen/EU citizens who don’t need a visa to work in other countries. So you’ll need special skills. Or you can get a student visa and get your foot in the door through education first.

Try to get information about the political situations! There’s a lot happening in Europe right now (not sure how much is covered overseas) with political views and parties changing and some countries are harsher than others for foreigners! Good luck, it’s beautiful over here 🤗
