Tampon won’t go in??

I have been using tampons for about a year, so I assumed that I would know how to use them by now. However, recently they don’t always go in?? I’ll go and try to put it in and it just doesn’t go anywhere, like there’s a wall. I know I didn’t leave an old one up there, and I have tried different angles, positions, EVERYTHING! 😂 What’s going on? Also sometimes it hurts when they’re in, even if they’re pushed all the way up, kind of like pressure. Please tell me if I’m using tampons wrong or something! This is getting old. 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️
