Need advice – Saw sac on sono after heavy bleed but HCG not doubling!
Hi ladies! My husband and I are just over 5 weeks pregnant from our second BFP. Our first resulted in a missed miscarriage at 9 weeks. The baby was growing behind. We are doing IVF. On Sunday (5 weeks exactly), I had heavy bleeding that I can only describe as a gush of bright red blood. It continued for about 6 hours and subsided by the evening. We for sure thought we lost the baby. We went in Monday morning for a scan, and to our surprise, saw an appropriately sized sac as well as a bleed in my uterus. The RE said she thought “we’ll be fine.” They also drew blood at the appointment, and unfortunately, we got a disappointing phone call with our results later in the day. At our last blood draw (1/24), the level came back at 1,096. On Monday, five days later, (1/29), it registered at 1,700. Clearly, it’s not double, but it is rising. The doctors said we just have to wait and see since the uterus does show a viable pregnancy, and the levels are going up. Does anyone out there have a similar story, or any insight they can offer? I wonder if the bleed may be to blame for the number not doubling. At the end of the day, we know it’s going to play out how it’s going to play out. Our next scan is Friday, but I am driving myself crazy in the meantime! Thanks in advance.
