Back pain?

Question

I am 34weeks 4 days and have had menstrual like cramps in my back for the last few days. And randomly I have a throbbing stabbing pain in my right kidney area! I go back to dr Friday but wondering if it's something I need to call about now?!? Any ideas what it could be?

I know lower back pain can be a sign of pre-term labor and pain on the right side like near the ribs can be a symptom of pre-eclampsia.  I would call your doctor if it's bad pain.

I was just at ob triage for stabbing back pain on my right side under my ribs... they checked for kidney stones or uti infection .. which all came back negative so they suggested baby was just on a nerve... heating pad has been helping!

I’ve had some cramping and lower back pain also. Had an appointment today and told the midwife and she didn’t seem concerned as long as it’s not persistent and there are no other signs of labor. Could be your body preparing for labor. But if you feel like something is definitely not right then give them a call, better to be safe.
