My family has been going through money problems recently and prom is coming up next month at my school, so my boyfriend’s mom and grandparents have offered to help pay for a dress. My mom is stubborn and doesn’t like to receive help from anyone, even though we’re essentially living paycheck to paycheck and trying to save up for me to get braces. I suggested to her that they could pay for something less expensive like my shoes or hair and makeup because they seem to really want to help and we could use it, but she was like, “I don’t know. We’ll wait and see.” I’ll need to know something soon because I’ll only have a few weeks to get a dress and shoes and I need to know if I’ll need them to help. What should I do?
