3 month old drinking water

Long story short my baby sitter for my 3 month old daughter gave her water between feedings. I’ve heard you should not give babies water . Do you think it will harm her ? What should I do ?

My MIL said she used to give water to her oldest son (my BIL) when he had colic, as suggested by her pediatrician. I’ve heard this isn’t recommended anymore, but she did it and he turned out fine. I think it’s okay in moderation, as long as your baby still drinks enough milk, but I’d ask your pediatrician about it. I’d personally be pissed if someone gave my son water (or anything else other than milk, for that matter) without asking me first, but it’s most likely not going to harm your baby.

My son's pediatrician said no water before 6 months old.

Hold off on the water. It’s just not good for them that small

They don't really need it so they need to stop but it's no harm done at this point

That’s very dangerous

I used to give kids water not a lot but a couple ounces maybe 3 but not often only when it was hot. If she’s giving the baby full bottles of water then that’s when it can be unsafe.

Definitely not good for baby. Read into water intoxication.

I think babies can have a few ounces a day but I’m not 100% sure. Ask your pediatrician

Water won't hurt her. The concern is that she will not get enough milk because her belly is full of calorie free water. If it stops, you may need to provide more milk or formula, but if she is still growing well, then no harm done.
