Induction?

Hi ladies, 
I’m 32 weeks 4 days and baby is 5 lbs... my dr spoke with me today about possibly inducing at 39 weeks Incase he’s 10 lbs... my question to you is, can any mamas tell me about being induced and still managing a med free ( no epidural) birth? I know pitocin makes contractions much worse so I’d like to hear your stories or thoughts on how you made it through without any meds! Xxx

in had induction with my 3 year old but I was already in active labor and didn't know but it wasn't that bad I didnt feel any of my contractions just a lot of pressure I was laughing and everything the whole time

Your baby’s weight doesn’t seem much higher than the normal at that stage. Where I am in Canada, they refuse to induce due to a possible large baby. Most women are able to deliver 10 lb babies every day. Very few need c sections due to failure to progress (baby too big). If you want to be induced, by all means, do it! Just don’t feel like you absolutely have to because your doctor says. This is your baby, your body, and your delivery. If he’s concerned, get him to do a repeat ultrasound closer to your due date - but ultrasounds can be quite off for weight in both directions!

my baby was just over 5 pounds at 32 weeks got another scan next week at 34 weeks but they are refusing to do anything for me at the momment just saying that I'll go into labour when my body is ready. but I'm stressing that's she's going to be to big.

honestly pitocin and cervidyl (so?) hurt so bad once they reach a certain point, usually at only 4 to 5 cms,  way more painful than a natural orogression. I would recommend getting some sort of pain management.

I was induced with petocin and cervadyl and it was so intense. My plan was no epidural as well but my water broke at 10 pm and after that they were so intense. I made it to 4:00 am without drugs and couldn’t take it a minute longer. Baby came at 8:30 am. I’m hoping for no induction this time. It’s just too intense.

I did it. Was induced and had no pain meds.  Not gonna lie it was HORRID.. but I was so proud when it was over.

Just curious-what is the reason for no epidural?

My aunt had both my cousins induced with no pain meds. The first one she was too scared of the epidural needle to get it and the second one came out too fast for the anesthesiologist to get there and do it. She has a very low pain tolerance and to this day she only talks about how amazing it was when her girls were born.
