Ovulation tests

Hey ladies. I’ve been trying to map out my cycle and make sure all is well before we start trying. My first 2 periods off bc cake right on time. According to apps. But I’ve tested for ovulation every day for over a week and nothing. So it keeps pushing my period start date back. During my last cycle I had pain in lower right side. But not his time. Is there a certain time of day to check ovulation? Morning? Night?

Is there a way to do it that I’m missing?
