No birthday present?!

Girls, is it shallow or wrong of me to be somewhat upset and disappointed that my boyfriend didn’t buy me a birthday present? Like not even a card, I would have been happy with a lovely little card but I got nothing. The reason why I’m so upset about this is with his ex girlfriend, actually no she wasn’t even his girlfriend they were just sort of in a thing (he says) he got her a really thoughtful present ages before her birthday. I know I shouldn’t compare past relationships but I just feel a bit hurt that he didn’t put any effort in for me if that makes sense?

So it has been almost two weeks since my birthday and numerous of conversations later and he still doesn’t understand that it’s important to me or that I just want something small or even a card. Many excuses and tears and I just don’t know what to do, I just keep getting disappointed..
