Would you get mad if your friend tells you this?

So I've been seeing this guy for a bit and we both like each other and so I told my close friends about us. I'm asian and he's caucasian. I'm 19 and he's 20.

I was just wondering to them, "But I don't know when we're going to be a real couple."

And my friend he just suddenly said, "Hahaha I don't think you will become official. White and asians don't usually get together. Your parents probably wouldn't agree and it won't last long."

I was honestly shocked he said that! My parents knew this guy and they have no problem with it and I knew his family as well. I don't know what to do.
