Until I was 10 my mom was a full time working mom and I was in daycares and school. She became a SAHM when my sister was born and I came home to them every day after middle school and high school. I MUCH preferred her staying home because she made sure we had food we liked and helped us with homework, plus I know I would have gotten into way more trouble if she hadn't been home. Haha.

I have friends who stay at home and feel disrespected by their children who expect her to do the cooking cleaning and other house work. It breaks my heart for them because I know that they work so hard for their families everyday. Your kids don't make those assumptions if they ever saw mom slacking, they do when mom gets it done, handles business, and her efforts seem effortless.
I prefer being and having a working mom because it more visibly shows mom's hard work in a way kids can better understand, value, and compare to the other working parent more easily as equal.

Would have wanted my mom to be a SAHM because that’s what she always wanted and it would have made her happy, but our family couldn’t afford it and I grew up watching my mom get torn to shreds physically and emotionally by all these jobs that she hated so much... it’s hard to see your mom like that.

My mother found a lovely mix. She tried to be a stay at home when I was first born, but didn’t like it. She started a part-time job, and then as my brother and I got older, she took on more and more hours and eventually went to full time.
My husband and I are planning something different as our second child comes along. He wants to mostly stay at home, so he’s going from full-time to Perdiem at his job and I will be the primary breadwinner. It will be financially tight, and we’ve been used to being quite comfortable, but we’ll make it work.
