First Dentist Visit? 🤓

Help me out y’all. Have you brought your October baby to a dentist appt yet? The books all said to go but I am dreading it. I keep looking at the phone number to schedule the appt and then I don’t do it. I brush her teeth 2x day (or attempt it). I just can’t imagine what we will get out of going. Tell me if we need to go! I need motivation. 🤨

My pediatrician said he doesn't recommend it until 2 years unless there are any worries we have. Otherwise he said just keep the teeth brushed.

We were advised by our pediatrician to go between 1-3 years old. Our dentist is a family practice and at my last appointment they said 1 year is best to get her used to going. After talking with my husband we decided to wait until 2 or 3 because it's easier to explain what's happening and thus make it easier on our baby. We brush twice a day and check to make sure there's no cavities or anything else wrong so I think we're justified with our decision. 
The dentist literally said they would just have me hold my baby facing me and lean her back with her head in the dentist's lap and she would just look at her teeth. No brushing, loud tools, or poking. It's mostly an appointment for me to ask how to. ate for her teeth and get our daughter used to going.

I took my son when he was getting teeth, you don’t have to but it makes the used to the dentist,  always brush their teeth and gums also floss.

Mind started getting teeth at 4 months! I just made her an appointment and the soonest they could get us in for new patient visit is next month. I have a feeling she’s going to freak out, but it’s gotta be done.

We went after a fall that shifted a tooth and they did a full “check up” my son sat and straddled me and I laid him back and his head was on the dentists lap. He cried but it made it easier for her to see everything easier. 
It was important for me, because she gave me some great tips on brushing, toothpaste etc... so now I definitly do a better job keeping his teeth clean. 
He’s getting better now, when I say “open” to Brush his teeth he actually opens so when we go back over the summer I’m expecting he may (or may not) sit in the chair.

our daughter saw a dentist at her 6 months appt. because she had her first tooth at 4 months and because at 6 months she had her lip and tongue ties fixed. then we went at 12 months and again at 16 months,  2 weeks ago.  she has gotten her teeth brushed and cleaned at every visit. we go every 6 months. plus she also gets her teeth brushed by her pediatrician,  at every shots appt. along with that,  I brush her teeth 2-3 times a day. she has all her teeth, minus 2 back molars on top. I was told by multiple people,  aside from pediatrician,  that as soon as baby has teeth, two things need to happen: 1- brush teeth and gums twice a day (morning and after last meal at night) and 2- visits to dentists every 6 months there after. so that's what we are doing. because we use a toddler battery operated tooth brush at home,  twice a day, at the dentist,  she's got no issue with the drill like operated brushes,  nor with the flossing technique they use . we are also blessed to have found a pediatric dentist office, that goes above and beyond , to ensure a smooth experience for the little ones.  our daughter goes in with a smile and walks out with a smile. I'm definitely gonna keep going every 6 months.  my parents didn't have the means to take me to a dentist when I was young, and even later on.  I'm 33 about to turn 34 and I have a mouth full of implants,  because by the time I hit 27, all my teeth were not salvageable,  because I had underlying issues that should have been addressed very early even before my tween years. I hope that by taking our daughter at regular 6 months check ups and being on top of any issues, I can spare her if my horrific childhood memories of teeth pain, decay, falling out, not being able to smile,  laugh,  covering my face often... it all starts AS SOON AS THAT HAVE TEETH and personally,  I believe it's best to go often and deal with uncomfortable moments (because I know,  not every child is ok with dentists ), rather than not go and possibly miss some cavity or something.

You don’t need to go but it’s good to go to make sure her gums are healthy and she doesn’t have anything wrong with her teeth. I’ve taken my son 3 times already. First time for meeting and getting his paperwork done and twice for cleaning. I also think it helps them get use to it for when they actually NEED to go. I saw a 3 year old screaming like they were in pain bc I’m sure they were scared. So one good thing about gettin her in early would be so she can get comfortable and know they aren’t going to hurt her.

my child has all his teeth including molers! my doctor said at age two but to make sure his teeth are brushed 2x day. I think it depends on your docotor and where your child is at with development
