Testing for pregnancy for HSG?

Question

Just went to first appointment at fertility clinic. One of the first tests for me is the HSG. The nurse told us a pregnancy test would be administered first in case conception had occurred with early ovulation. I asked how they could test for pregnancy before implantation had even occurred. She said they can test for hormonal changes even before implantation. 
Was she BSing me? is there actually a test that can detect pregnancy before implantation?

She’s testing you to make sure you’re not pregnant from last cycle (people have been pregnant and still bled like a period) and testing you to make sure you didn’t ovulate unexpectedly early.
It’s standard procedure.

Mine requires the test be scheduled CD 7-10 days and they did a pregnancy test to be sure I was pregnant from last cycle and they don’t like to do them after CD10 to avoid ovulation.

That is weird. I get doing a pregnancy tests just in case but I don't they would know until around implantation.

The paperwork says to use contraception is procedure is scheduled on days 11 or 12. And she said but we test anyways to make sure. I was like WTF.

I mean your not pregnant until it implants. Soo there’s no way. And they should schedule it before ovulation. But i just has to take s home test before.

Aren’t they scheduling it before you ovulate, like cycle days 3-10? Idk if a urine test can be that sensitive... I agree, she’s testing in case you actually got pregnant the cycle before, and had what you thought was a period.
