Am I considered as a NICU mom?

My 6 week old baby was born full term but she has been hospitalized with RSV bronchiolitis for half of her life so far. Am I considered as being a NICU mom or not? I tried to join a NICU mom support group on Facebook and they denied my request and said I wasn’t a “real” NICU mom. I understand that mothers have it a lot harder when they have a preemie but my daughter is on a ventilator, feeding tubes & breathing tubes and I’m going through a lot right now...

Your baby was in the nicu and you are her mother. By definition, yes, you are a nicu mom.

Some NICU mom’s (that are preemie mom’s) are so judgmental. You are definitely a NICU mom. Your baby has gone through SO much and is a fighter. Just because she wasn’t born early does not mean that she is not struggling and that you aren’t as well.

Yes you are still a nicu mom do not let anyone tell you different a nicu parent is a parent whose child has had a stay in the nicu for any reason for any length of time

If your baby has been in the NICU, then yes. The NICU is intensive care for babies. It just so happens that most babies requiring Intensive care are preemies. And even just the experience of seeing your new little baby there with tubes everywhere and you ain’t allowed to just hold them! 
My daughter was fortunately born healthy. But because a doctor misinterpreted her darker skin colour as not getting enough oxygen, she spend two days in NICU. And those two days for me was horrible.. and my daughter wasn’t even struggling. Just because some women’s babies are struggling more than yours, doesn’t mean that your daughters struggles ain’t serious enough! It’s not a contest! Hope you can just brush off that experience. And hope your daughter is doing well!
