Questions?!? :)

So I have been with my SO for a while and we have a baby together and we're absolutely in love with a few rough patches here and there. But the question is, is it bad that at some point I'd like to get engaged, not married right away but just something that shows me it will happen? I'm the female btw just trying to get advice from another point of view, because he doesn't bring it up. :)
