Sushi while pregnant??

What are your thoughts on eating raw sushi while pregnant. From a restaurant that you know for sure is clean and the fish is clean? I have heard so many different opinions just curious to know what you ladies/gentlemen think?

I probably wouldn’t eat raw, but as long as it’s from a reputable location with fresh ingredients you’ll be fine!! Hibachi actually sounds really good right now....

Sushi grade fish is flash frozen upon catching which kills any parasites you would be worried about. Sushi is handled with a great degree of care and often sushi restaurants (especially high end ones) have better health scores than other restaurants. You have a 1 in 2million chance of getting food Bourne illness from sushi grade fish. 1 in 25,000 from chicken. Japanese Drs recommend sushi as part of a healthy pregnancy diet. 85% of Food Bourne illness from seafood is from mollusks (oysters, mussels, clams), so I’d avoid those. Sushi is one of the only things that sounds good to me right now so I’m going to eat it. And fish is SO nutritious! Trust and believe I did my research on this because prior to pregnancy I ate sushi or poke like twice per week. Just don’t eat bargain sushi or gas station sushi and you’ll be fine. You get what you pay for.

Everyone has their own opinion mine is no not worth the risk why not wait til after you can decide what you consume for yourself your baby has no choice what ever you eat so I didn’t do raw fish during pregnancy

My doctor gave me the ok but mentioned to not eat the big fish. Crab and shrimp is good. But shark, tuna etc stay away

Don’t eat sashimi (raw fish), just sushi. Sushi doesn’t have raw fish. There can still be parasites in the fish that no one can see without a microscope. Plus there have been a lot of reports lately of parasites being found in fish.

I’ve had sushi a few times. I only order cooked rolls or California rolls. I’m too chicken to get my normal rolls just in case. I’m not sure if it’s coincidence but the day after I eat sushi, I get a terrible headache. Not sick whatsoever just migraine like headache. I’ll still indulge throughout my pregnancy just not frequently.

I would only eat cooked foods nothing raw. I wouldn’t want to risk it 🤷🏼‍♀️
