Can the flu in early pregnancy cause birth defects?

Question

My daughter tested positive for Influenza A yesterday 
I’m 7 weeks pregnant 
I feel like I’m starting to get it too but maybe not as severe as her. I don’t have a fever just the other symptoms 
Calling my doctor tomorrow morning but anyone ever have the flu early in pregnancy and it was fine?

From my understanding it’s the fever that causes issues to pregnant moms especially in the first trimester, but it doesn’t always cause issues. So keeping a close eye on your temp and keeping it down is the most important part. My daughter had it a couple weeks ago when I was 6 weeks and my OB put me on tamiflu to prevent me from getting it.. it worked. But now my daughter appears to have it again so I will be calling my OB tomorrow to see what he recommends this time after talking to her pediatrician. Hopefully your daughter gets well soon and you can avoid the full blown flu! 🤞🏼🤞🏼
