I've done it with my fiance. lay down a towel, if not trying to get pregnant at any point obviously use a condom. after sex I'd suggest peeing and obviously putting a pad on or tampon back in and make sure he is able to wipe of blood if y'all don't use a condom. it feels good and helps relieve period cramps

It depends on your flow. When I was on my second day, we tried and it was just too wet and no friction. Recently, we tried on my fourth day and it was pretty good. 
Just put down a towel and have some wipes next to you. Using a condom helps for easier clean up
