Any advice?

Question

I quit high school when I was 18 and I want to go back and get my GED. I want to do it right now like schedule it and take it within the next week or two. But I'm TERRIBLE at math. & if I fail the math part I fail the whole thing 😔 and I'm pretty sure I have to retake the whole test. I don't want to do classes because I just want to get it over with. I've downloaded thousands of apps and none of them help me. I was thinking about finding some tutoring classes at my local library but they aren't for math basically. I want to become a Social Worker for child abuse victims and domestic violence victims but I obviously can't take that step until I get my GED. I'm also super self conscious about going back to school because I have been out of school for so long & presentations scare the shit outta me!

Girl don’t be scared! I dropped out at 18 & JUST did my math GED test at 24 years old, I was sooo sure I was going to fail but I passed. Your fresh out of highschool so do it NOW, the longer you wait the harder it is to learn and motivate yourself. If you can pay to take the 6 week course, I suggest it! In Texas they have free classes but the teacher doesn’t teach, you read out of a book and ask her any questions but the teaxhwr doesn’t always know the answers. I paid $400 for the class at a college, the book & all my supplies. 
The math test is 50 questions, you go over 98 chapters of math in the GED book; so most of the shit you learn they can’t even fit on the test. You get 2 hours to take the test, I was nervous af. I finished in 40 minutes and passed.

Make a myged.com acct you have to make one to take your ged test, that’s where your grades come from, but they have free practice tests & practice tests you can pay for to help you prepare for the test

If you're terrible at math already, putting the work in for classes is really your best bet. Furthering your education won't give your shortcuts. Take the classes to give yourself the best shot at acing your tests. Good luck 😊

if you're looking for algebra type stuff try raytoteach.com and look at his 050 and 055 classes :) he does pretty good.

I was terrible with math too but you do get a calculator and it's not as hard as I anticipated! :) one thing I was really good at was English and so when I did the math and history parts I thought of them as reading tests and that helped calm the nerves.  good luck!!
