What does a miscarriage feel like?

I'm so sorry if this is insensitive, I really don't intend it that way!  So I have only had two periods since my son was born last February. January 8th-15th, and another that started yesterday a week late. Today I have had INTENSE vaginal/cervical pain that feels like when I was in labor and I was dilating. I took out the tampon I had in after a couple hours because I was so in pain I had to leave work early. Taking out made no difference even though it was 8 hours ago. My cervix is low, open, and very soft. I made an appointment with my OB GYN doctor but I can't get in until Friday am. I took a pregnancy test this morning and it was negative. I also just started getting very shakey. Any advice is appreciated!

It sounds like you need to pass a clot or something of the like. From what I know, the further along you are, the more pain you will be in (though it can vary) but early miscarriage feels like your period x 10. Mostly its just terrible cramps and mass amounts of blood. For me personally, the pain is almost less painful physically and unbearable emotionally.

For me it felt like labor. I expected maybe an intense period but it was 10 times worse. I had what felt exactly like contractions. and they got closer together then got stronger and longer just like when I had my son. I had to focus my breathing and everything. And then as soon as I passed the baby they got lighter. so much lighter and then I would only cramp when I needed to pass something. I was 12 weeks along with a baby measuring 8 weeks.

I still don't really know what's going on. My NP didn't think it was a miscarriage since I never got a positive test, even though labor is the only pain I could compare it too and it seems like one in many ways.I feel like I should have asked for a blood test for hcg.  She referred me for an ultrasound on Wednesday, so hopefully that will be enlightening. I just want to know what's up with my body!

My cervix was very low and my CM went from thick and almost chunky to watery for about a day then disappeared. The next day (4w 6d) I stared spotting brown. common enough but still went to my doc. We checked my hcg and it was only 200. At 5w 5d I started bleeding but never heavy enough to actually soak a pad. Checked my hcg again and it was 437. That evening I passed a thick clot about the size of a quarter. Flat piece tissue like and a grey ish colour. The next morning I passed another clot that looked like the first then passed another by lunch time that was more like a bubble. About the size of a pea. I'm pretty sure that was baby. After the bubble clot the bleeding immediately lightened up. There was about 4 days of "coffee ground" like brown/grey/black spotting. Today it seems to have for the most part stopped. Still spotting a bit but there's clearly no new blood/tissue. I hope this helps.

I took a Tylenol 3 I had left from my son's birth last year, and I feel marginally better. I am hoping tomorrow goes okay at work and that I can get some insight on Friday.

when I miscarried in August it started by just spotting then intensified with the bleeding and the cramps felt like my insides were being ripped out of me it felt like my period times 100 I was at work when I passed the last of the blood and everything I barely made it my last two hours of work.  the emotional pain was the worst.

I’ve only been pregnant once that unfortunately ended in miscarriage. I don’t typically get cramps with my periods and if I do their very mild. When I had my miscarriage my cramps were very intense I had to take ibuprofen. And I was passing a lot of clots! And my bleeding was heavier than a normal period.
