Merlin sleep suit??

Question

I’m looking for ways to start transitioning my daughter out of her swaddle so that she can learn to self soothe.
So how is the Merlin sleep suit comparable to a swaddle? How does it help babies fall/stay asleep? 
I’ve always assumed the swaddle worked so well because of her arms being so close and tight to her sides. And the sleep suit looks like to exact opposite but people rave about it.

It works by muffling their startle reflex. It worked perfect for my son once he turned 3 months or so. We used it 3-5 months. Then the rolling over started and we just went cold turkey with his pjs! 
My son had bad startle reflex’s and it did a wonderful job at making his reflexes not wake him up.

i used the zipadee zip instead. i read about babies gettingg too warm in the merlin sleep suit. my baby is able to get to his hands but it keeps them from swinging out and its safe for babies that roll

my son loved a swaddle for way too long- even after he was rolling. we got the merlin suit, and within a few weeks we could transition him out of it to a non-swaddling sleep sack. it really helped!
