Ladies on the pill..

I'll keep this short for now and elaborate if I need to! So I started birth control like 3 months ago, missed 2 pills at one point and my next period was very late, maybe 20+ days late. When it came, it only lasted 2-3 days. I had heavy cramping which is normal for me, and seemed to be a regular period until it just stopped early. Usually they last about 6 days for me. Since then I've had a little discharge, and yesterday it looked like a very small amount of mostly brown blood. I plan on taking a pregnancy test to get that possibility out of the question, but is this normal? For someone pretty recently starting the pill? Could it just be hormones? Help a girl out, I'm stressin!
