What does this mean?

So this guy at my school found out I liked him. And he said he was going through depression and he would like to get to know me better. I kind of left it alone and basically didn’t talk to him for a while, because he said he liked his ex. I said sorry for it, and he was extremely nice. But even before I said sorry and now he won’t stop staring at me he especially when he thinks I don’t notice He’ll stare longer. I don’t know what this means. Does anyone know?
