Natural Family Planning?

Question

Who has had success with natural Family Planning? My husband and I have a 1 year old and we don't want any more kids. Birth control makes me super emotional and gives me bad headaches so I can't go back on that. I have a few apps that I've started using to track my ovulation and all that. He's deployed so I have a few months, I just wanted to see if it's possible to not get pregnant just by abstaining from sex during my fertile window.

I couldn’t take hormonal birth control due to a sensitivity that made me constantly throw up. I used condoms for a little bit but they were really costing a lot of money and both my husband and I didn’t enjoy the feel. Once we did the FAM, everything was great. The only reason I’m pregnant now is because we decided to start a family and actually try.  it can be tricky, and definitely not as successful as other birth control methods, but it can still work. Thirding the Taking Charge of Your Fertility recommendation. I’ve been using FAM to avoid pregnancy for 5 years. Follow the rules for avoiding pregnancy very conservatively and you’ll be fine. Play fast and loose with the rules and you will get pregnant.

I second the Taking charge of your fertility book.  It is sort of like learning a new language but once you get it, you will feel so empowered and happy you did it.  I just hit my one year mark of using the FAM method, no other birth control and no baby.

It’s one of the least effective forms of birth control. If you don’t want an unplanned pregnancy, protect yourself.
