Brown discharge instead of period?

Period was 2 months late?? Took a positive at home pregnancy test but the blood test came back negative now I’m having what I guess is my period but brown discharge instead of blood for 7 days straight?? What could be causing this?

Very very very rare that a blood test would be wrong. And rare that an at home test would be wrong too... 
But it could be stress doing this to your body, or if you have recently gotten into working out a lot. I used to work out 5 days a week and only had my period ever 1.5-2 months. I also worked and went to college so my body had very little sleep. Just reflect on any changes in your stress level, eating habits, exercise, weight loss, and sleeping patterns.
