6 year olds uncircumcised penis tear

My 6 year old came to me after he went to bed crying saying his penis hurt. It looked red and irritated at the tip. So I made him pee and he started crying again and then said it really hurt. Me and my husband checked it and it looks like their is a small cut on the tip of his penis. My husband said when they were all army crawling and playing like an hour before hat he said he hurt his penis. He didn’t cry or anything but he did say he hurt it. I’m just wondering if anyone has experience with the healing process? So far what I’ve read was to leave it alone and let him pee in water for the next couple days to lessen the sting. Anyone know anything else I should be doing? I will be calling the dr in the morning. Thanks in advance
