Does your husband or boyfriend or living partner expect you to clean up the house?

I’m a full time student and I live with my boyfriend and he expects that I clean up his room after he makes messes “because I’m home all day” which I’m actually not.... and he says if he pays for everything for me then I need to be cleaning the house. Thoughts? I don’t mind doing it I just don’t like feeling like he’s demanding me around.

I guess I’ll be unpopular too and say yes. When I didn’t work it was my responsibility to clean the house. He was the provider. I didn’t have a problem with it because he was away from home working 10-12 hours a day and I didn’t think it would be fair for him to come home to a dirty house too.

No my Husband does not expect this from me. We pick up eachothers slack because Life is busy for both of us. I am pregnant, he works, but I see him cleaning up after me and vice versa... Like a well oiled machine I'm grateful

you shouldn't have to do everything, but if you aren't bringing in money, that's your way of contributing. I have always worked less hours than my husband, so I do more housework.

I’m a full time student and my husband works while I do not. It’s kind of an unspoken role out of respect for one another, which my husband undoubtedly respects me. It’s just he works 12 hour days 6-7 days a week while I have classes a few hours a day. It doesn’t kill me to clean  up the house or go behind him and clean up his mess. It’s not like he’s a pig destroying the house. Men just naturally arnt as tidy as most women. I don’t fuss having to cook dinner or do anything around the house.  My suggestion to u is get a job if u feel like ur bf is holding money above ur head making that seem like the reason u owe him anything. 🤷🏼‍♀️ 🤷🏼‍♀️  not many men would support a woman through school. My husband makes sure I never feel like I have to. He's a grown man and can pick up after himself and help out.

unpopular opinion: yes, my husband does expect me to pick up the house. HE PAYS FOR EVERYTHING. HE WORKS. when I was a full time student I still had more time on my hands than he did so yes, I did clean up everything. YOU however are not married so you shouldnt be expected to do wifey shit😂 if hes simply being lazy, don't clean it. so what if he gets mad, hes a grown man.

We have had a lot of conversations and there's a lot of give and take. I don't want to take out the garbage. He doesn't want to clean the bathroom. I don't want to do the landscaping or yard work. He doesn't want to cook dinner. But if he's busy or working late I will take the trash out. When I'm busy or out he will start supper or make it entirely. As long as you talk it out and come to and understanding

I clean up the house on days that I feel like it and he totally understands. I’m 8 mo pregnant and leaving constantly for baby appts and taking him to work since his car broke and my body is just TIRED. So when I lay in bed all day cuz my back hurts or I’m catching up on sleep, he totally understands. I tell him not to do the chores though because it gives me something to do when I am feeling up to it. Mind you I don’t go weeks without cleaning LOL but I may go a few or every couple of days.

I live myself during the week and SO is home at weekends due to his work. He doesn't demand I do housework but I do it because I'm home more than him. He does make a joke about being lazy if I don't do much tho 😂
