In public speaking class I learned to use pauses (silence) and never to fill them with "um" or "uh". But it absolutely drives me crazy when my DH doesn't use them in everyday conversation. I cannot stand when I ask a question and there is zero acknowledgment. It's great that you're thinking but I need to know that! I tell him to "use your words" all the time. Am I alone here? What do you all do to communicate better? I'd love to hear some sage advice 😁
