Some works of encouragement
Okay ladies, this might be a long post but I want it to help someone out there with what I just went through.
Last week on Valentine’s Day I had an ultrasound at 11 weeks. As soon as the tech started the scan I noticed something a little off. A big black whole in the lower abdomen area, the tech marked it the bladder. I knew it was abnormal but after the ultrasound the tech said everything looked great. While we waited over an hour for the dr to come in I had a bad feeling. My dr then proceeds to tell me that she is sending me to a specialist because of the abnormality on the us. I immediately begin to panic on the inside. She said that since it wasn’t normal that she recommend that I get the free cell dna test because it could mean an chromosomal abnormality. But other than that she didn’t give much information.
So I was left to use dr Google. Which we all know is a terrible idea. I look up “enlarged bladder” and everything’s basically terrible news except for those few success stories here and there. So I promised myself if mine turned out for the good I would post about it. I had to wait a week to see the specialist and the dna test to come back. Wednesday the dr calls me to tell me the dna test is negative!! Then I had my ultrasound at the specialist yesterday and the tech and the dr both scanned me and didn’t see an enlarged bladder ! They said I was a great scan and you could see so much for only being 12 weeks. I’ll follow up with him in 5 weeks just to make sure things are going good. But I can’t tell you how stressed and upset I was. I basically thought I was going to have to terminate this baby and I was heart broken. I cried for a week straight and could barely eat. Now I can sit back and start enjoying this pregnancy.
I know this is a rare thing to happen but I hope it gives a mom out there some hope. Just because one US shows an abnormality doesn’t mean there’s actually something wrong.
